What does education look like in Thailand?

Education in Thailand: Thailand’s education system is structured around 12 years of free basic education. This encompasses six years of primary education known as “Prathom” (P1 to P6) and six years of secondary education known as “Mattayom” (M1 to M6). Children typically start their enrollment in the basic education system at the age of 6.

During the primary education phase, students focus on acquiring fundamental skills in subjects like mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies. This period lays the foundation for further learning and development. As they progress to secondary education, the curriculum becomes more diverse and specialized, catering to students’ interests and career aspirations.

The Thai education system aims to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for higher education or the workforce. However, like many education systems worldwide, it faces challenges such as inequality in access to education, resource limitations, and ensuring quality teaching. Efforts are ongoing to address these issues and improve the overall quality and inclusivity of education in Thailand.
